Life in the UK Test Prep

Getting Started

How do I start studying?

From the home screen, tap 'Study Materials' to access topic-based learning content from the official 2025 handbook. Each topic is broken down into manageable sections. We recommend starting with 'The Values and Principles of the UK' as it provides foundational knowledge for other topics.

How do I take practice tests?

Tap 'Practice Questions' for topic-specific quizzes, or 'Mock Test' for a full simulation of the real exam. Mock tests contain 24 questions and give you 45 minutes, just like the actual test. You need to score at least 75% (18 correct answers) to pass.

How can I track my progress?

Your progress is automatically saved and displayed on the home screen. You can see your overall completion percentage, XP earned, and achievements unlocked. The 'Progress' tab shows detailed statistics including your accuracy rate by topic, helping you identify areas that need more attention.

What are XP and achievements?

XP (experience points) is earned by completing study sessions and tests. Achievements are special badges awarded for milestones like 'Complete your first mock test' or 'Score 100% on a topic quiz'. These features help keep you motivated throughout your preparation journey.

Free vs Premium

What's included in the free version?

The free version includes introductory study materials (Values & Principles and What is the UK?), a starter set of practice questions, and Mock Test 1. Progress tracking, daily challenges, and achievements are also available for free.

What do I get with Premium?

Premium unlocks all remaining study topics, the full 800+ practice question bank, and mock tests 2–20. It's a one-time purchase with lifetime access on your Apple or Google account. The price shown in the app comes from the App Store.

How do I upgrade to Premium?

Tap Upgrade / Unlock on the home screen, or open Settings and tap the Upgrade to Premium banner. Complete the purchase through the App Store (iOS) or Google Play (Android). Your premium access activates immediately. You can also Restore Purchases from the paywall or Settings.

Can I get a refund?

Refunds are handled by Apple (iOS) or Google (Android), not directly by us. If you're not satisfied, please contact Apple Support or Google Play Support within 14 days of purchase to request a refund according to their policies.

How do I restore a previous purchase?

Open Settings and tap Restore Purchases, or use Restore Purchases on the Unlock Full Access screen. Purchases are tied to your Apple ID or Google account.

Account & Privacy

How do I delete my account?

Go to More → Account & Data → Delete Account, then confirm twice. This permanently removes your profile and study progress stored on this device. App Store or Play Store purchases are not cancelled by deleting your in-app account; manage those in your store account settings, and use Restore Purchases after signing up again if needed.

What's the difference between Reset Progress and Delete Account?

Reset Progress clears your XP, streak, answered questions and achievements but keeps you signed in, so you can start studying from scratch. Delete Account removes everything, including your profile, and signs you out. Both are in More → Account & Data, and neither can be undone.

What data does the app collect?

Your study progress, preferences and profile are stored only on your device — there is no account on our servers. The app contains no advertising SDK and does no cross-app tracking. RevenueCat verifies your Premium purchase using a random app user ID and your store receipt. Analytics and crash reporting are switched off unless you turn on 'Share Anonymous Usage Data' under More → Privacy; if you do, we receive a random identifier, a few usage events and crash details — never your name, email, password or individual answers. See the Privacy Policy for full details.

How do I turn analytics off (or on)?

Go to More → Privacy and use the 'Share Anonymous Usage Data' switch. It starts off, so nothing is collected until you choose to enable it, and turning it off stops collection immediately and discards the random identifier. Every feature works the same either way.

What happens to my progress if I sign out?

Nothing is lost. Signing out only clears your profile from this device's secure storage; your study progress stays put and will be there when you sign in again. Premium is linked to your Apple or Google account rather than your in-app profile, so it also remains available.

Tips for the Real Test

How should I prepare effectively?

We recommend studying consistently for 2-4 weeks before your test date. Focus on understanding concepts rather than memorising answers, as the real test may phrase questions differently. Take mock tests regularly to build confidence with the format and time pressure.

Which topics are most important?

All topics can appear on the test, but 'A Long and Illustrious History' and 'A Modern, Thriving Society' tend to have more questions. Pay special attention to dates, key figures, and British values. Our progress tracker highlights which areas need more revision.

What should I know about the actual test?

The official Life in the UK test has 24 multiple-choice questions to be completed in 45 minutes. You need 75% (18 correct) to pass. The test is taken at an approved test centre on a computer. Bring your booking confirmation and valid ID. You can take the test as many times as needed, though each attempt requires a new booking and fee.

This app is an independent study resource and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to the Home Office or any official government body. Using it does not guarantee that you will pass the official test.

Technical Support

The app is crashing or freezing. What should I do?

First, try closing the app completely and reopening it. If the issue persists, ensure you have the latest version installed from the App Store or Google Play. Restarting your device can also help. If problems continue, please contact us at costadev@outlook.com with your device model and a description of the issue.

My progress isn't saving. How do I fix this?

Progress is saved locally on your device. Make sure the app has permission to store data. Avoid force-closing the app during a test or study session. If your progress has been lost, contact support and we'll try to help.

How do I contact support?
